Rix Flix – Youtuber

So, here’s something a little different, I wanted to review a youtube channel that I have watched religiously for the last couple of years.

Rix Flix.

Why?

Probably because I only have a somewhat small (actually, pretty big) obsession with Universal Studios in Florida. Being just an average Jane with a limited budget I don’t get there as often as I want. Rix Flix fixes that.

Rick and, occasionally his wife Nikki, post weekly visits to Universal and he is probably my favorite and only youtuber that I will watch for this sort of thing. He posts update videos (what’s going on in the park), live-streams where he just walks around the park and special event videos to showcase the special activities going on.

Now, along with Universal, he does also post the occasional Florida vacation spot which are very enjoyable as well, because it gives a look at these spots from the perspective of a Floridian.

He also recently started a Rix’s life video playlist where he shows what’s going on his and Nikki’s life. Now to just the occasional viewer this may not be very interesting, but if you follow him like I do, it IS nice to see the behind the scenes. They have been building a new home and it’s been fun to see how things are going for them.

Rick is not some youthful, blunder-headed youtube star. He and his wife are older with adult children (daughters), but, personally, for me, that is a good thing. I don’t have the energy for these crazy young kids. Rick and Nikki are how I imagine I will be in about 20 years, geeks with the class of a well-lived life with many, many years ahead of them.

One thing, I will say about Rick is that he not afraid to take risks. In the last couple years I have seen him and his wife really push the limit on their success by starting their own businesses.

Nikki, a guidance counselor I do believe, makes her own Universal themed crafts. Now, these are not the simple, craft store things. She makes truly brilliant objects. At first, she was creating videos about the things she was making, but Nikki hasn’t for a moment. She does, as I said, have a job though so I doubt that it is the easiest thing to balance. I do hope in the future she will bring some form of a showcase, because it’s easy to forget. She was on Etsy besides her own website but I think they are working right now on creating a new one, set for 2025.

Rick recently started the Mummy Coffee Company. For some background, there is a ride at Universal Studios called “The Mummy” based on the equally awesome movie with Brendan Frasier. The whole queue line is about how Brendan is just trying to get a cup of coffee while filming. At the very end, the Mummy finally hands him one before the video is abruptly cut indicating that Frasier gets attacked. Rick based his whole line of coffee over this. I haven’t been able to purchase any myself yet, but it is on my to-do list. If you are interested the website is ” themummycoffeecompany.com “

Besides his Universal channel, he has others. One about his obsession with the Dolphins (The football team, not the animal). He has a Disney channel that I think was supposed to be like the equivalent of his Universal channel, but he does not post on that nearly as much, mainly, I do believe, because Disney’s costs and regulations make getting there weekly a major pain even for a Floridian. He also created one of those background video channels that are themed around Universal and Disney.

Rix is a wholesome video channel; meaning it’s appropriate for anyone to watch. He does not bash or put down anything; obviously he will comment on things if they’re wonky but not in a sensationalist way that way too many youtubers do. He does this channel because he loves Universal and he seems to honestly enjoy it.
