I don’t know many people who haven’t heard some line from this movie (“Do you like scary movies?”) or many people who don’t know this movie in general even if they haven’t seen it. Tonight was the first time I’d ever seen it and I have to say I was pretty impressed. After all the jokes I’d always heard and the movies that had made fun of it I thought it wasn’t going to be good.
This movie starts out with a teenage girl who’s home alone who gets a mysterious phone call from a stranger and then… well, I can’t say anything else besides that because the best part of a horror movie is the anticipation. I can say that besides this movie being so iconic I found the plot to be fairly fresh and enjoyable. I’m not really a horror movie person, but I actually had fun watching this movie. It was classic and kept me guessing.
I would suggest this movie to anyone looking to enjoy a good horror movie; maybe with some popcorn.
It’s fun and silly, but most of all, self-aware and shows that horror movies are perhaps best when they know they’re the butt of the joke. Nice review.
